Meet our new Community Outreach Officer

My name is Mogomotsi Radinonyane from Serowe, situated in the Central part of Botswana and I’ve recently joined Elephants for Africa as the Community Outreach Officer.

I spent my childhood life in Serowe and attended all my pre-tertiary schooling there. In 2007, I enrolled with Limkokwing University of Creative Technology to pursue an Associate Degree in Tourism Management and graduated in 2010, and a few years later I enrolled with Botswana Wildlife Training Institute to study Certificate in Professional Tour Guiding and did Lodge Management for a short period of time in the Okavango Delta.

My love for nature started from a young age. Back in the years, I used to go out with other young boys from the village herding goats and harvesting wild fruits, and I got to learn some important skills like identifying animal tracks, identifying birds and their calls which is still useful to me today. My dream came true in 2014 when I joined Khama Rhino Sanctuary Trust as Assistant Environmental Education Officer/Safari Guide. I was responsible for planning, organising, and teaching Environmental Education programs to school kids of all age’s groups to university students. I also conducted game drives for students visiting EEC, outreaches to educate the general public about Rhino conservation and conservation in general.

With the prior experience of being an Environmental Education Officer and Safari Guide, I’m always willing to spread the message of Conservation, because I believe that the most important thing when it comes to Conservation is education.

I believe that the Natural Resources we are benefiting from today must be used wisely so that future generations can also benefit from them. How painful it will be for the next generations to see elephants captured in photos, while during our times they were roaming freely in the wilderness.
